A heartwarming, humorous look at what happens when Charlie and Joan discover unexpected joy, friendship, and reinvention in a senior living community.
They found it at Acoya Troon, a haven nestled between two mountains, where the views were breathtaking and the welcome was warm.
But life, as it tends to do, had its own choreography in mind. What followed was a cascade of surprises—some challenging, some remarkable—all unforgettable. They soon discovered that community living came with more plot twists than they ever imagined, especially when their spirited neighbors decided that “Why not?” was the best answer to almost anything.
Their two cats treated every corridor like a new frontier and every visitor like a potential accomplice. Together, they learned that community can change everything, and that the next chapter can be the most surprising of all. Life Between Two Mountains is a story of resilience, reinvention, and the unexpected beauty of saying yes to life—one dance at a time.

Charles R. Tyrrell lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he finds daily inspiration in the rhythms, friendships, and unexpected joys of community life at Acoya Troon. A lifelong observer of people and their stories, he discovered a new creative spark later in life — one that led him to capture the human experiences behind the progress, adventures, and quiet moments that shape his days.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering, completed four years of service in the United States Air Force, and began early professional careers in both engineering and business administration. He went on to devote several decades to the information technology sector, focusing on software development and networking.
Curiosity carried him far beyond his professional life. Charles has taken fifteen ocean cruises and visited 145 cities across thirty seven countries, gathering stories, friendships, and small moments of wonder wherever he traveled.
When he isn’t writing, he immerses himself in the creative arts and stays active with his favorite indoor sports. He shares his home — and plenty of laughter — with Joan and two mischievous cats who reliably steal the spotlight.
